A COLLABORATIVE OUTREACH INITIATIVE OF AGENCEY FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE PREVENTION AND CHILDREN’S POLICY COUNCIL OF CALHOUN COUNTY
The mission of SAFE Care Calhoun County is to assist infants and mothers with safe assessments for family engagement with plans of safe care to address recovery supports and focusing on their safety and well-being. Care Coordination and Community Partnerships help equip mothers to keep their families intact through support, services, and resources.
SAFE Care is for pregnant and parenting mothers with substance use disorders, using prescribed or illicit substances or using Opioid Replacement Medication. Those eligible for the program are pregnant mothers as well as those with substance-exposed infants from birth to 12 months old.
Safe Care is designed to help build and retain intact families affected by substance use disorders, to ensure the effective safety plans are in place for substance-affected infants and that community resources utilized to meet the needs of their mothers and families.
Program Goals
- Engage pregnant and parenting women in substance abuse treatment
- Reduce the number of infants with Neonatal Opioid withdrawals
- Reduce the length of time in out-of-home placement for children birth to 3 years of substance involved parents.
- Ensure effective plans of safe care are in place
- Increase the collaborative capacity of the community to meet the needs of the target population
